Columnist Thomas Boswell breaks down Bryce Harper’s at-bats in Wednesday’s dramatic win over the Arizona Diamondbacks — in the comments section of his column from earlier this week. Here’s an excerpt:

Next AB was one that impressed me. Saunders adjusted and started with a sweeping curve, low away. But Harper had adjusted, too, and was looking for it. Since Harper hadn’t swung at a curve yet it’s >90% that Saunders intended to throw it for “strike one.” Why worry? A 19-year-old is going to be sitting on a first-pitch curveball from a vet LHer? No way.

But that’s just what Harper was doing.
